Being a member of the Nets organization surpassed some of my greatest ambitions. It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun. I’m a Brooklyn Net forever. It’s been an honor to work with Mikhail Prokhorov, Dmitry Razumov, Christophe Charlier, ONEXIM Sports and Entertainment, Brett Yormark and all the wonderful people involved in making the Nets first class. My sincerest thanks goes to Bruce Ratner, who first introduced the idea of moving the Nets to Brooklyn. A thank you and deepest appreciation goes to the fans. You are the lifeblood of any team.
The Nets have made their mark on the NBA and as they enter a new era, Roc Nation does as well; as we embark on Roc Nation Sports. Our newest endeavor is committed to building the brands of professional athletes as we have done for some of today’s top music artists. For Roc Nation Sports to function at its full potential, NBA rules stipulate that I relinquish my ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. It was a tough decision but as I stated earlier, it’s not about ownership. Congratulations to The Nets on a great season and making the playoffs! I will always be a Brooklyn Net.- Jay-Z
Jay-Z embodies so much of what makes New York New York. A kid from a tough neighborhood who grows up in public housing, overcomes lots of bad influences on the street, never lets go of his dream, makes it to the top — and then keeps going, pursuing new outlets for his creativity and ambition. When no one would sign him to a record contract, he created his own label and built a music empire — before going on to design clothing lines, open sports bars and, most recently, represent professional athletes. He’s an artist-entrepreneur who stands at the center of culture and commerce in 21st century America, and his influence stretches across races, religions and regions. He’s never forgotten his roots — “Empire State of Mind” was a love song to our city — and as a co-owner of the NBA Nets, he helped bring a major league sports team back to Brooklyn, not far from his old neighborhood. In nearly everything he’s tried, he’s found success. (He even put a ring on Beyoncé.) And in doing so, he’s proved that the American Dream is alive and well.
After a brief partnership with Live Nation, Jay-Z has decided to move his Roc Nation Label to Universal Music Group. Roc Nation artist include Rihanna, J.Cole, Rita Ora, Timbaland, Shakira, and many more. As well was managing Wale, Meek Mill and more.
With the MLB season kicking off this week, Life + Times and Roc Nation announced the launch of Roc Nation Sports, a “full-service sports management company,” with their first signee being New York Yankees All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano.

WTT was released on August 8th debuting #1 on the billboard charts, selling 436,000 in the first week. Tracks like Otis, H.A.M. and Niggas In Paris all became international hits. With a production team including Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, 88 Keys, The RZA WTT felt like a movie. Songs to listen to all of them, this album has great replay value. Even tho I’m tired of hearing Niggas In Paris, a song the Duo performed up to 11 times during their 33 show tour that grossed over 48 million this year. Some of my favorite tracks are: New Day, where they talk about their unborn children not having to go through some of their struggles. Also “Why I Love You” where Jay when in on all the people he’s helped out that aren’t in the picture anymore. “Murder to Excellence” where Hov & Yeezy compare and go back and fourth on Murder and Excellence. WTT was a very creative album, an album that everyone and their moms were talking about when it released and really on of the first times you seen two superstar artist collab on such a successful project.
Okay i think it’s officially about that time to dead, Nigga’s In Paris, on of my favorite songs off WTT. Also always get the people going when im Djing. But after The Throne performed the hit 11, yes Eleven times at in Vancouver,BC it’s time to stop the madness. I witnessed the WTT Tour during their stop in Baltimore last month. They performed the song just 3 times which was perfectly fine for me. But eleven times, come on son, I can name more than eleven songs they didn’t perform that would have fans going crazy. The video below was they nail in the coffin for me, wow like really nigga you need to chill on the drugs homie lol. Don’t get it twisted tho, ima still give the people what they want whenever im on the turntables; but you never catch me bumping this in my car, headphones etc for a while!!
Jay-Z has recently came under fire for profiting off the Occupy Wall Street movement, with the release of the “Occupy All Streets” T-shirt. First it seamed that Jay and Co. pulled the shirt off the shelf because of no fully supporting the movement. But the shirt was in such high demand, that Rocawear doesn’t have anymore of the shirts at the moment. I don’t really understand the controversy, Jay is definitely bringing awareness to the movement with the release of the shirt. But some of these hardcore protesters don’t want anything to do with anyone apart of the 1% lol.
I got my tickets for the Baltimore show next week; but if you weren’t able to get your hands on some tickets,Yeezy and Hov team up with VOYR to launch the tour website today. Where for the low price of $4.99 you will be able to see the broadcast each stop of the tour, a special Kanye documentary and more.
The Game sat down with Power 106’s Big Boi for this interview where he claims he asked Jay-Z how he managed to stay relevant; Hov said “Most of you new rappers won’t last, find a new lane.” Red Album finally in Stores Now go buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
